2025 Raku Season at Waterbrook

Raku season is here, and we’re excited to welcome you back to the studio for another year of fiery fun and creative expression. Whether you’re a seasoned raku artist or trying it for the first time, please review the following details carefully to ensure a smooth and successful firing day with us at Waterbrook.

PLEASE GLAZE YOUR PIECES BEFORE THE START OF RAKU

Safety Guidelines
Raku is a high-heat, smoke-heavy process. To stay safe and comfortable, please:

  • Wear closed-toe shoes

  • Dress in clothing made with cotton or natural fiber

  • Wear pants and long sleeves - No shorts or skirts

  • Tie back long hair

  • Bring a mask or respirator if you have one (highly recommended)

What to Bring

  • Bisqueware: Limit of 3–4 pieces per participant due to kiln space

    • Tall, narrow pieces are most likely to be fired

  • Raku glazes, horsehair, and feathers will be provided by the studio

  • Please wax the bottoms of your pieces (this can be done at the studio on firing day)

Cost

  • $20 for members

  • $25 for non-members

  • Payment is due at the firing - cash or check only, paid to the Kilnmaster
