It's Board Election season!

Self nomination is now open - if you are interested in nominating yourself, you can do that using this form

Positions up for election this cycle (read about roles and responsibilities here):

  • Vice-President

    Communications

  • Operations

  • Membership

Process

This process will begin with a call for self nominations, members interested in running for a position will fill out the nomination form. Nominated members that are eligible for candidacy will be added to the election slate. The election slate must include a President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. Upon the completion of the self nomination period if one or more of the above listed positions has no nominated candidates a notice will be sent out to membership and the nomination form reopened for the span of a week. After that week, the final slate will be put together and announced to membership with candidate submitted bios for consideration. If an essential position does not have a candidate, the election will carry on and the board will appoint someone when the vacancy begins pursuant with the bylaws (Article V. Section 5.)

After the slate is presented to membership, there will be a three week period where the election form is open. Members may only vote for one candidate per position. At the commencement of the election period, votes will be tallied and the membership will be notified of the results.

Important Documents

Tea party time!

HUGE SHOUTOUT to Jessica Putnam Phillips from ClayShare for guiding 20 potters through the challenging process of hand building a teapot. By day’s end, students who had never even touched clay before had created a beautiful textured teapot with their own two hands. Thanks to all who attended for filling the studio with laughter, support and, of course, teapots!

Waterbrook overflows with the Devil's Work

Patience was a virtue in the planning, carving and smoothing required for the Devil’s Work but the results were worth it. Here’s a peek at those results and the smiles they brought. A huge thank you to Toan Tran for sharing his time and talents with all of us! Click on the images for a bigger view.

Were you seen at the 2024 WPS Kickoff Party?

There were smiles all around what with the tasty and plentiful food, awesome raffle prizes, a pottery swap and, best of all, a room full of potters (and some +1’s)!

Congrats to the raffle winners of the Bailey Ceramic Gift Certificates:

$250 Grand Prize - Jen Doig
$100 Second Prize - Becca Cain
$50 Third Prize - Eunseon Park

Thanks again to Mayco, Spectrum Glazes, Bailey Ceramics, and Capital Ceramic Supply for their generous donations.

And thanks most of all to all the Waterbrook members who make our studio community such a wonderful place to learn, laugh and grow!

New "Classes" page!

A new page is now live on the website to help centralize information and registration for all the classes and workshops that the Education Committee has scheduled. No need to keep track of all those emails anymore. You can find the Classes tab at the top of the web page, or check out the page by clicking here.

THANK YOU!

Wait ‘til you see all the reorganizational improvements in the studio! This team worked hard, but none harder than Eunseon Park and Jamie Gahtan who led the entire project.

A HUGE thank you to all who came out to lend a hand. It was a hot one but the popsicles cooled our bodies and soothed our souls (thanks, Jamie!).

We love our studio but we love our members most of all.

Thank you to our outgoing and incoming Board Members!

Waterbroook Potters Studio’s success rests entirely with our members. Each of us bears responsibility to care for and nurture the studio and each other if the collective is to flourish.

We reserve particular gratitude for those members who have volunteered their time and talents to provide leadership in our studio’s infancy and to guide us forward. Thank you to our outgoing Board Members for helping us reach toddlerhood with a steady gait and a healthy sense of balance.

And a great big welcome and thank you to our incoming Board members! We can’t wait to see what developmental milestones we’ll achieve under your leadership!

Annual Meeting June 27 @ 7pm!

Please join us on Monday June 27th at 7pm, for the Annual Membership Meeting, on Zoom. We are looking forward to seeing you virtually, as we recap the 2021-2022 year for the studio, meet the new Board members and bid a fond adieu to the outgoing Board members.

If you have concerns you would like us to include, please send them to us at board@waterbrookpotters.com, at least one week prior to the meeting.

See you soon!

Masks are back

Community levels of COVID-19 have risen to a level in the Capital Region categorized by the CDC as “high”. Therefore, effective immediately, and based on the CDC recommendations, the WPS Board has decided to reinstitute mask-wearing at all times in the studio (whether one is vaccinated or not).
