Raku Training at Waterbrook

Calling all Waterbrook and Collar City Clay Guild members!
Weβre kicking off the Raku season with a hands-on Raku Orientation on Sunday, June 1stβan essential opportunity for those who want to participate as Raku helpers at upcoming firings. This orientation is open only to current members of Waterbrook Studio or the Collar City Clay Guild, and is designed to introduce (or refresh) the skills, safety protocols, and responsibilities involved in this exciting, fast-paced firing process.
What to Expect:
Learn about the Raku setup, firing process, and safety protocols
Get hands-on experience with pulling hot work from the kiln
Understand the role of Raku helpers in future firings
Fire a few of your own bisqued pieces during the session
(Please bring 2β3 small to medium bisqued pieces)
What to Bring:
Closed-toe shoes (NO sandals)
Long pants and long sleeves β Think natural fibers like cotton or denim (no synthetics)
An N95 mask or respirator for smoke and fume protection
Water, sunscreen, snacks, and a sense of adventure!
