September Woodfire with Capital Ceramics
Waterbrook is teaming up with Capital Ceramic Supply again to take part in a community woodfiring at their Delmar kiln, designed and built in 2022. Pat and Marica of Capital Ceramic Supply are passionate about ceramics and community building, and believe that wood-firings are a wonderful way to build that community. From potluck meals, to cutting wood, wadding, filling the kiln, taking shifts feeding the fire, all the way to the community meal and big reveal when they open the kiln, they want to spend time with others who love wood-firings as much as they do.
Participants must use CONE 10 clay
Participants are expected to aid in the process (wadding & taking a shift to stoke the kiln)
Here’s what to expect:

Before we can fire the wood-kiln, we need to prepare the pieces, which involves the following activities
Before the firing ( Sept. 17th, Thursday):
Glazing your work
Wadding (adding small “legs” to pieces so they don’t stick to shelves … time-consuming!)
Kiln Wash Application
Filling the kiln
Bring some food to share!
During the firing (September. 18th, Friday– 19th Saturday):
Firestoking Shifts!
The kiln fires for 24–30 hours, divided into six-hour shifts
We ask that each person commit to one six-hour shift during the kiln firing as part of our community-building efforts.
Cool down (Sat-Sunday):
Participants must use CONE 10 clay
1 sq. ft. = $125
Participants may purchase more than one square foot if they desire
